My life before substatnce dependency was a happy one and when I found myself abusing drugs I didn't know where to turn. What would my family think of me? I was scared to tell them I had a problem and that I needed residential treatment centers.

Every time I think of what my sister went through when she was dealing with her addiction I get sick to my stomach. The way she looked was horrible all sunken in and skinny. Thank god we were able to find residential addiction treatment for her before she killed herself. I never knew that addiction could take such a toll on a person and change them so much nor did I understand how residential addiction treatment could restore a person back to their original self.

The doctor told me if I used again I would probably die because my heart couldn't take it any more. I was scared at that point that I might die because I knew I couldn't stop on my own so I told my parents that I had a drug and alcohol addiction and that I needed help to go into drug & alcohol treatment. They were surprised that their little girl could even have done such a thing but, they helped me and paid for treatment. It's been 3 years since I went through treatment and I'm happier than ever!

12 step support groups is needed for drug and alcohol problems now more than ever. It's a growing problem that Americans face and will continue to face until the addiction is seen for it's true colors by every single human being on this planet. The problems that come along with drug addiction in general are to many to list but the false hope that it brings to the addict is only one of the reasons addiction to drugs still exists in today's society. 12 step support groups can help the addict to regain real hope of a future with out drugs and restore the addict back to their normal state of being.

A drug habit destroys the lives of hundreds of thousands of people each year maybe even more. With an ever growing demand for the drug it seems that the numbers are on a constant rise. Addicts are consuming more and more to keep their selves from going through withdrawals and finding that their lives are not as happy as they once were. A drug habit is available for many who have been caught up in this vicious cycle of addiction and finding a drug habit is easier than it once was.
